July 2023: surgery information and protein

Treatment day 127: 238 more to go!

Guess what I’m NOT doing today??? CHEMO!!

Each round is 3 weeks long so I’m officially through the last one! Still not through the side effects, but I feel much better. I can’t believe how out of shape I am now after all that! Things still taste funny, but only a little bit. Muscle twitches are still happening but a lot less.

I’m officially on the other side!

I thought my dr said to “eat protein and green things” but I’m pretty sure what she actually said was to “eat more ice cream” HA!

Treatment day 146: 219 more to go!

Had an appt with my surgeon today. Getting ready for surgery in 2 weeks!

Got in trouble for not eating enough protein.

My schedule is filling up again with pre-surgery appointments, surgery appointments, post surgery appointments.

I’m not looking forward to this, but I keep reminding myself I’d rather have surgery than cancer!!!

So, what’s next? I have an appointment with the plastic surgeon on the 9th and he’s gonna draw on me. Then I go to radiology first on the 10th to have a radioactive seed placed in my affected lymph node. Then I go to the surgery facility where the surgeons will work their magic. There will be a pathologist in the room checking the lymph nodes as she takes them out to see how many need to be removed. She’ll keep going with them until the pathology comes back clean. She’s not sure how far the cancer went. I’m not sure how long the total surgery will take, but I’ll go home the same day. The breast surgeon will start the surgery and the plastic surgeon will finish it.

So far I have 3 follow up appointments 2 weeks after my surgery: one for lab work, one with the breast surgeon and one with the oncologist. The plastic surgeon is going to manage things (pain meds and drains and such) after my surgery so I’ll probably have more appointments with him in between at some point.

But… I get to enjoy 2 more weeks of my “break” before “phase 2” gets started!
