April and May 2023: reconstruction surgery phase 2

I guess nothing exciting happened because I didn’t seem to have anything to say. Finally and uneventful month!

15 months after diagnosis:

Since it’s getting close, people are asking… my “part 2 of 2” surgery is Tuesday. This one is replacing the expanders for permanent implants. I’m ready to put this behind me. I should be a lot more comfortable after this one. Immediately and long term. Dr said I don’t even get pain meds this time. I don’t have any sensation anymore after the first one so I can’t imagine I’ll feel much pain afterwards. Recovery is 2 weeks instead of 6 like the first one, no drains this time thank goodness!!!!! And I got family here until the 28th to help me through it if I need anything.

I think it’s 2 follow up appt after this and I’m done with the plastic surgeon

Just got back from a 10 minute walk per drs orders. Gotta get the blood flowing!

I feel really good. Kinda sore, but I had ibuprofen, a nap, an ice pack, a nice evening walk and got my own personal <family> chef in the kitchen making dinner.

No complaints here!

3 days post-op, again.

Things are much better this time. 36 hours with random ibuprofen or Tylenol, but I’m past that now. I’m driving, shopping, showering… all the things. Well, not ALL the things. I’m still under drs orders to take it easy so I am behaving. But mostly it’s just weird, but not painful or even very uncomfortable. Feeling like a mummy with my 15 foot ace wrap that I have to keep on for a week. But if that my biggest complaint I’d say I’m doing pretty good.
