HR- HER2+ Breast Cancer: Diagnosis, Treatment and Beyond

What Was It Like?
Come Explore My Story With Me!

I had so many questions, many of which will never be answered.

Why me? What caused this? Was it something I did? Was it preventable? What’s going to happen? How do I get through this emotionally? How long will I be scared? How soon will I accept it? Will I feel “normal” again after all this is done? What is this “supposed” to feel like, is this normal? What is the WORST part?

I’m sharing my story to help others who feel like they want someone to relate to. Someone who’s been there first and can share what it was like. Family and friends are amazing, but sometimes you just need someone who’s been through it.

I’m sharing my story so family members and loved ones of someone diagnosed can read what it was like from the patient’s perspective and maybe get ideas on how to help and support someone you know fighting cancer. But remember, this was MY story and everyone has different needs and comfort zones with help and even how much information they want or need.

**Having cancer is a very scary thing. More information that you need can be overwhelming and when its coming from family and friends, even with the best of intentions, it can get overwhelming because you can’t “turn it off” when it’s too much. Some people like to know everything about it, but personally I found it to be too much for me. I don’t want to worry about the parts that I don’t need to worry about and I can handle my mental health a lot better when I have control of what information I’m receiving. Keep this in mind if you’re the family member or loved one of someone who was diagnosed. And if you’re the patient know that you CAN set boundaries and that’s perfectly okay and I encourage you to do so. Talk to the people you feel comfortable talking to and take care of your mental health through this!

I’m sharing my story and it’s just that. MY story, MY perspective, MY experience. For any medical advice please seek help from a professional whether you need a doctor or therapist, whether you’re the patient or the loved one, help is out there. You are not alone!

From Cancer Patient To Cancer Survivor

Many of the pages on this site tell my story looking back at what I experienced and things I went through. There’s also informational links and pictures, some of which are my own and some are free “stock” photos. My “Blog” menu has pages from each month of my treatment of updates that I posted on a private Facebook page to only close family and friends as I went through it. It’s not meant to be medical advice, but I hope it brings some sort of comfort to someone who is going through it or to friends and family of someone who is.
